A personal favourite because the food is just soooo good, you can sit in the café whilst your kids have awesome fun playing in the playground that is right next to it. The Grounds Keeper Cafe – Blacktown. The homemade cakes at the Grounds Keeper are to die for and the owners are ever so friendly and love kids. I know, things you thought would NEVER happen! In the meantime, I would be so delighted to hear of other great cafes beside playgrounds. In the central part of Sydney this os one of the best playgrounds with cafe right beside it. Along the shores of the Maribyrnong River you’ll find a large marine-themed playground, a coffee kiosk and The Boathouse restaurant.

Pirrama Park at Pyrmont is also nice with a modern cafe and outdoor seating with a view. A more ‘grown up’ and upmarket option is nearby Gardiner and Field who also offer takeaway lunch packs (sandwich, salad and treat) that you can take to the playground.

Kids can run amok whilst you enjoy your coffee and super cheap café fare. Whilst there is no food licence, they do serve cookies, muffins, sandwiches, pop tops, babycinos and importantly, tea and coffee. Within Cabarita Park, this kiosk serves yummy well-priced snacks and is close to the playground, the beach and the swimming pools. If you STILL need entertainment after the cubbyhouse and toys at Leroys then there’s a small playground in front the Newport Community Hub at Paine Reserve. This aqua-hued cafe served a wholesome menu across the road from the main entrance. Bonus points for excellent ice cream at Popstic by the river. It’s divine, and it’s just up the hill from the playground. This is the ultimate café by a playground because you can sit outside the café whilst your kids run wild in the all ages and abilities playground, which is fully fenced. This is a lovely playground with cafe right beside it, it’s almost part of the playground. and this is one of Sydney’s best parks with cafe right within it. We like Ryde Park for a scoot, play and a nice cake and milkshake. Both parks are aimed more at the littlies. There’s lovely inside and outside dining here. Cars are nowhere close.
