It is also a great way to use up a few slices of bread before they go bad. Haven’t had to make any extra trips yet. Hopefully it will thaw & taste as good as the one we had tonight!
In our house we love those little frozen PB&J sandwiches that you can buy in the freezer section of the super market. I started doing freezing PB&J sandwiches when I had leftover bread that was going to go stale. I use a pampered chef cut-n-seal and make “uncrustables and freeze them.
Jams and jellies are water based, peanut butter is not so it seals the bread from the water in the jelly.
Do you have a suggestion for a way to get the best price on peanut butter right now? I also made 8 jars of strawberry freezer jam. The other benefit is that you can control what goes into these sandwiches. We pack them in our cooler to go to the beach for the day.
I wrapped these individually and put them back into the bread bag and put them all in the freezer. It is cheaper than the smuckers all natural in the regular grocery. It made me want to think about how to make freezer cooking more family-oriented instead of being something where mom is confined to the kitchen while everyone else stays out :).
