I saw your comment that you always have a boil over when boiling the potatoes. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and combined. This hint will prevent boil over every time. Next time you're mashing a big batch of potatoes, consider doubling the recipe. Every step of the way, mine looked just like the pictures. Stir well.
