The carpeting, while not brand new, was OK. I figured it was very convenient and wanted to ensure a nice clean room.The good:Great water pressure at the shower.Very comfortable bed - I like a firm mattress and that is what they had.The bad:Everything else about the room. Tropicana’s West Tower Budget Rooms put you exactly where you want to be in AC.
This hotel is very well maintained, has excellent dinning options, excellent entertainment venues, in an upscale section of the boardwalk and the staff excels at customer service. And the flat screen tv was a nice addition. I only know now why that really was. service.
We had also gotten tickets to eat at the buffet, which was CLOSED.....wish someone would have told us that BEFORE we booked the trip. Muggings are common in this area. I gave him my VIP Diamond Club Card number, and, after taking ten minutes, having me repeat my number, name, and date of birth multiple times, I was told that I did not have a comp. They used to show a blockbuster and a nature/documentary film which was always family friendly. The hotel check-in lady informed us that our room type was no longer available but was able to upgrade our room as well. later that night, the cart was still in the hallway. Car parking dead easy - $10 per day for Valet parking and you can come and go as many times as you please. There are so many reviews complaining about the lack of flat screen televisions. I called and the informed us we would have to make a report with security and than they would switch our rooms. The beds were extremely comfortable....except for the waterproof mattress pad that was placed on top of the pillowtop mattress that wasn't securely fastened down so it 'krinkled' at the foot area. They also have a very generous comp program especially mid-week. Unfortunately, I no longer would recommend this hotel to anyone and WILL NOT be staying here again. We booked directly through Tropicana and chose the Chelsea Towers because it was the only room along with two West Tower rooms available at the time of my booking which was last minute.
Check in was swift and courteous enough....no complaints there. Definitely bring a power strip if you have lots of things to charge up as plugs were few and far between.
